Cottar's Camp

Cottar’s 1920 Camp is situated on the rolling hills of a private concession adjacent to the south-east side of the Masai Mara Reserve. This area does not receive any of the heavy traffic found in the reserve itself and therefore offers productive game-viewing in tranquil calm and quiet.

The camp is one of the oldest family-owned camps in Africa and is somewhat of an institution here. It therefore operates to a very high quality and authenticity with an interesting historical perspective. The camp’s main areas and pool are very well appointed and the camp has an atmosphere of an older era, with modern chic touches.

There is a vintage safari vehicle and memorabilia tastefully placed around the tented, but lavish, main areas. Vehicle safaris are complemented by excellent walking safaris in the concession. It is good to combine this camp with one towards the west and north of the Mara.
