Olakira Mara Situated in the far north of the Serengeti plains, in the remoter part of the National Park, Olakira Mara is a high-end canvas camp. The prime location overlooking the Mara River valley that snakes its way across this region allows for some exciting wildlife encounters, particularly when the swelling herds of wildebeest arrive and attempt to cross the crocodile-infested river. The enormous Mara River crocodiles enjoy their time of plenty by making the lines of wildebeest swimming across their targets. Spectacular interactions of predator and prey can be observed around Olakira Mara Camp. With very few other vehicles around it offers an incredibly high quality and action-packed Serengeti experience. On the Kenyan Mara border this is the route the herds take north to arrive in the Masai Mara but guests from Olakira acan enjoy the sightings in a much more pristine, remote and wild area. The pleasant canvas design of the camp amongst the large acacia trees provides a true representation of what the Serenget-Mara ecosystem should be. On the Kenyan side of the river further north there is accommodation for in excess of 5000 visitors, but here there is just a handful of high quality intimate camps providing maximum accommodation for just 80 guests. Northern Serengeti acts a bit like a private and exclusive Masai Mara for the privileged few. Outside of the migration this area retains a wild feel and excellent opportunities to view game all to oneself.
