Skeleton Coast & Kunene This Skeleton Coast and then inland north to the Kunene River, which divides Angola from Namibia, is arguably one of the most jaw-dropping landscapes in the world. There are parts so silent that it almost creates a deafening muffle in the ears and the sheer impact of this wilderness leaves most visitors in awe. Skittish herds of bounding oryx and endemic Hartmann’s zebra scatter the horizon, beyond a shimmering hue in a pair of binoculars, and a truly authentic Himba tribe eke out a nomadic existence in one the most demanding locations on Earth. The Hartmann Valley is epic in proportions and bright yellow sand catches in its craggy granite mountains, forming enormous dunes that roll down to the perennial Kunene River. This winds its way powerfully through dunes and mountains, creating a green oasis in the harshness of the desert.
